On the south side of Widemouth Bay A prominent rocky outcrop which gives this beach its name. The unique spodosol formations are actually soft and formed from soil creating interesting scenes and mimicking volcanic rocks in their dark color and eroded contours. Its known that Melbourne has no shortage of grand and iconic beaches.
There are a handful of free parking spots but if these are taken you will have to pay for parking.
Black Rock beach is one of Melbournes great quiet achievers. Walk into the dense forest until you see an opening for Black Rock Beach. The entire beach is amazing.
